One thing I was thinking about while making this list: I MUST make a "Best Of" for every year in the 2010s so that the next decade list is easier!

and I don't own the Waxwings.. but will soon!

Unbelievable undertaking. I like your parameters. Glad to see Mr. Ritter in the top tier where he belongs.

I guess iTunes makes this a bit easier, as you can sort by date and at least have a "culled" data-set, instead of sifting aimlessly through stacks of vinyl to check release dates. :)

I have one question for you: Do you own The Waxwings, Low to the Ground? 'Cause if you don't, you should. My sleeper of the '00s pick. http://powerpopoverdose.blogspot.com/2008/04/waxwings-low-to-ground-2000.html

Jim,
Happy to see Jeremy Messersmith :: The Reluctant Graveyard on your list--not flying under everyone's radar it seems. Thanks for the great list for research, time-saving for us strapped-for-time music aficionados. I really appreciate your rigor.

I must be getting old, though. Some of the top 20 I ain't feeling. The stuff you kids listen to today! :)

Surfer Blood just missed this list (as you'll see when I put out the full list in a couple days). Really liked that Hotrats disc too but DQ'd it as a "covers" disc (that'll be on the next post too).

Mumford and Sons (and a couple from @jno's list) are great examples of how good I thought the crop was this year. Really liked those discs but just had others that I liked better.

... and Florence and the Machine I missed, so I'll definitely have to go back and check that out!
